The CBSL has become a printing press: Sajith

Accusing the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) for printing money extensively, which is leading the economy to a hyper-inflation situation and dragging the economy further down, Samagi Jana Balawegaya Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the right thing for the Government to do right now was to step down and hand over the country.

Premadasa made this statement during a media brief held in Hambantota yesterday (18).

“How shameless is the Government to hold positions. The economy has entirely collapsed. The CBSL has become a printing press, and if they continue their operation, the country would head towards a hyperinflation situation The rupee that is depreciated at the moment will depreciate further and the cost of living will increase, and the cost of essential items will increase as well,” said Premadasa.

He went on to say that it is evident that the Government has proved to be a failure, and that the same people who criticise the Government are the ones who are within the Government, who should step down without further delay.
