With the current lockdown extended till the 21st of September, Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) President Gemunu Wijeratne called the restrictions a 'complete lie' indicating the number of vehicles on the road despite the supposed lockdown.
During a media brief, he went on to speak about the sufferings of students, SME's and the general public due to the alleged ack of proper pandemic management.
“There is no proper plan in place. The Private Bus Owners Association has suffered to a point to which I can say it is now dead,” stated Wijeratne.
Finally, Wijeratne appealed to the relevant authorities to come up with a stringent plan for the next two years at the least, which would help revive the livelihoods of people who depend on private buses for work and transport.
