In response to allegations that Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa left the country during the ongoing dollar crisis, State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa assured that the Rajapaksas will “never run away”.
He made such remarks while addressing the media yesterday (20).
“Is this the first time the bankrupt Opposition has levelled this allegation against Basil Rajapaksa? He has a life to live, there is no issue with that. He can come and go. The Rajapaksas will never run away,” the State Minister said.
When questioned about the several other MPs who have also left the country, the State Minister stated that this has no bearing on the dollar crisis.
“It does not matter if all 225 MPs leave the country. The dollar shortage is a matter concerning banks. We believe that this situation will become favourable,” he said.
