Tigers and terrorists, words used by Govt. MPs to silence minority MPs: Sumanthiran

Two members of the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) party were bullied by Government MP’s during a meeting held by the Ministry of Forest and Wildlife, said ITAK MP M A Sumanthiran.

This was brought up in Parliament yesterday (22) just as Sumanthiran stood up to deliver his speech.

“Two of my colleagues Hon. Shanakiyan Rasamanickam and Hon Sritharan attended a meeting by the Ministry of Forest and Wildlife, where when it was their turn to talk and raise concerns which was already part of the agenda , Members of Parliament belonging to the Government party started hooting and calling my colleagues names. It included names such as Terrorist, LTTE and Tamil Tiger,” said Sumanthiran.

He went on to say that it was the most “unfortunate” incident that were to happen, and both Rasamanickam and Sritharan were forced to walk out of the meeting.
