The Railway Engine Drivers' Association states that the token train strike which commenced this morning (30) has been called off.
The decision was taken following a discussion at the Ministry of Transport.
Its secretary, Indika Dodamgoda, said the union had launched the strike to protest against the issuance of a project to issue train tickets electronically.
He said that despite several rounds of discussions, the trade union action was taken due to the lack of a proper response.
