Travel agents registered under the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) have been exempted from Value-added tax (VAT), the Ministry Industrial Exports, Tourism and Aviation said.
Having considered requests made by stakeholders in the tourism industry VAT has been exempted with effect from April, 2020.
The Ministry said the sector was largely affected by the Easter Sunday Attack followed by the Covid-19 Outbreak.
Over 1000 travel agents are currently registered under the SLTDA.
