TRCSL engages with SpaceX

By Aazam Ameen  The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has held preliminary engagement sessions with SpaceX in exploring the introduction of Starlink internet services in Sri Lanka.  A Tweet by the TRCSL detailed that the first round of discussions focused on regulatory aspects and prerequisites of initiating the service in the near future for Sri Lanka.  Using advanced satellites in a low orbit, Starlink enables video calls, online gaming, streaming, and other high data rate activities that historically have not been possible with satellite internet. Users can expect to see download speeds between 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps and latency as low as 20 ms in most locations. Founded by Elon Musk, SpaceX designs, manufactures, and launches the world’s most advanced rockets and spacecraft. The company was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk to revolutionise space transportation, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary.
