TU requests Govt. to set control price for animal feed
The All Ceylon Small and Medium Scale Poultry Producers’ Association says that the government should take steps to set a control price for animal feed in the same way as it imposed a control price for chicken.
Its chairman, Maithri Fonseka, said small and medium-sized poultry traders were facing a number of problems due to rising food prices.
By April, animal feed alone had increased by 30 percent and the number of chickens to be fed per day had increased by 57 percent, he added.
He also warns that if a control price is not set for animal feed, only large scale enterprises will be left and all small and medium scale enterprises will be destroyed.
