Two-minute silence to mourn the lives lost to Easter attacks

The Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith today appealed to all citizens to observe two minutes silence on the 21st of April at 8.45 to mourn the lives lost to the Easter attacks. Cardinal Ranjith during a press briefing today said all events that were scheduled to be held to mark the first year anniversary of the tragic Easter Sunday Attacks on April 21st have been cancelled due to the prevailing Coronavirus situation in the country. Cardinal Ranjith requested that all churches across the Island ring their bells at 8.40 am on the 21st of April to mark the event. He also appealed to all temples and other religions to do the same in solidarity. The Cardinal also requested everyone to light a candle or lamp at 8.47 am and engage religious observances. Speaking further the the Cardinal commended the government for its continuous efforts to capture those involved in the Easter attacks. “We want all of those who planned and abetted the attacks to be brought to justice and punished,"Cardinal Ranjith added.
