The parliamentary party leaders yesterday (20) decided to allocate two days to debate the Vote on Account (VoA) which seeks to cover the expenses for the Government’s efforts to control the Covid-19 outbreak.
The debate of the VoA is to be held on 27 and 28 August.
During the party leaders’ meeting, the Opposition had requested that more time be granted to them in the debate, but their request was denied as the Government had pointed out that they had 151 members in Parliament and thus needed the additional time.
The party leaders’ meeting was held yesterday at the Parliamentary Complex and was presided over by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana.
The VoA is scheduled to be presented by the Government in Parliament today (21).
