Water levels of rivers still normal

03 Sep 2020

The heavy rainfall of the previous two days has not put Sri Lanka under major threat of floods or landslides as the water levels of rivers continued to be lower than average, DMC Deputy Director and Media Spokesperson, Pradeep Kodippili told the Morning.

No flood warnings were issued while landslide warnings were issued due to the heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Kodippili said that only areas of Kalawellawa and Dunamale have been affected by rising water levels at 4pm yesterday (2) but the situation has returned to normal presently.
