Weligama, Midigama becoming an illegal drug hub: Police

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana today stated that Weligama and Midigama areas have had more illegal drug related offences compared to other areas and it is turning into an illegal drug hub.

A 38 year old woman was arrested by the STF yesterday in possession of 145 grams of heroin in Weligama.

Further, the police anti narcotic operation has arrested a 21 year old suspect in Nagarkovil, Jaffna, in possession of Kerala ganja.

In another anti narcotic operation conducted in Thalaimannar, four suspects were arrested and a boat was taken into police custody for the offence of transportation of 1.28 kilograms of heroin.
