William Angliss Institute @ SLIIT holds 8th graduation

William Angliss Institute @ SLIIT recently held its eighth graduation in style at the Shangri-La Ballroom, Colombo.

Six Board members from the William Angliss Institute, Australia, the Chairman and board members here in Sri Lanka, and distinguished VIP industry guests witnessed the success of the graduating students supported by their families and friends.

The graduation ceremony commenced with traditional drummers and all were entertained with a traditional dance performed by current event management students and alumni. A welcome speech was given by William Angliss Institute, Australia Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Hunt to begin the formalities.

All graduating students received their William Angliss Institute, Australia qualification in the streams of Hospitality, Commercial Cookery, and Events. The graduation had two sessions during the day where family photos were taken.

A number of students who had excelled in their studies were awarded many medals and trophies, including the most outstanding students from each batch, who were awarded by Chairman Errol Weerasinghe, with the most outstanding shield also being presented.

The guest speakers for the graduation were two alumni students (Royston Quyn and Diarra Wickremasinghe). Both Royston and Diarra gave insights into the role William Angliss Institute @ SLIIT had played and they inspired all those in attendance with what they have already accomplished in the industry.

A motivational speech was also given by Nora Imeli, with advice to the graduating students on moving on to the next chapter in their lives. The vote of thanks was conducted by two students graduating on the day (Chamara Randika and Shaniya Beekmeyer). The graduation ceremony came to a close with the national anthems of Australia and Sri Lanka.
